Title:

Developing the Online Handbook of Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum for Improving the Quality of Education and the Accreditation Process of Khulna University

Summary of the Activity

Khulna University looks forward to leveraging an outcome-based curriculum management solution to foster a quality assuring learning culture across all disciplines. In today’s rapidly changing academic environment, the need for more effective and flexible learning and development has become essential. Towards this necessity, an authoritative source of course related information on approved courses and subjects offered by respective disciplines is a key to ensure the quality of education and institutional reputation. In this activity, all disciplines (29 discipline) from eight schools of Khulna University will be considered for the designing and development of Online Handbook of Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum on the basis of their activities of the Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC) in each discipline of Khulna University. The online course handbook will offer better education outcomes for the students because the students would be able to find important information about the courses and requirements to complete their degree; and, for the disciplines, it would serve as the single source of truth to manage course content and structure, subject and elective choices, attendance patterns, learning objectives, and, credit-point requirements that ultimately will guide the degree accreditation process.

Objectives

1.      To design and develop a web-based handbook for promoting a learning experience that attracts learners through learning portals, peer to peer learning, mentoring capabilities and skill development of the Khulna University students as indicated in the OBE curriculum guideline of University Grants Commission, Bangladesh;

2.      To establish greater visibility of the programs along with the courses being taught at Khulna University both at undergraduate and postgraduate level;

3.      To bridge the gap between static and dynamic styles of representation of OBE curriculum for improving the quality of education and the accreditation process of the degrees offered by Khulna University;

4.      To generate a solution to the traditional course and curriculum management system that will ultimately provide a stronger link between education and training, and individual and institutional performance.

Expected Outcome

In a world where many universities are trimming their learning and development budget or leaving it the same, the demand for return on investment for learning is at an all-time high and so is the budget for learning technology. With the right handbook system in place a university can dramatically improve its ability to attract multi-generational learners and deliver high impact education to a wide audience.
